Time travelling, or time displacement, is the act of stepping outside of the three Cartesian axes into higher dimensions and stepping back in a different position in time. It was first achieved by Roald Waldstein in 2044 with the help of a thesis written by Edward Chan in 2029.

Time travelling has a negative effect on human cells. This is due to the large doses of radiation from exposure to tachyon particles. The effect is more extreme the more and the further back in time travelled, and causes premature ageing. An example is Foster, who has the appearance of an elderly man and is dying from various cancers, but is revealed to be 27 years old in the first book. He was affected by a very large dose of tachyon particles during the incident when a seeker killed the previous team. The effects also become evident on Liam O'Connor and Maddy Carter, whom are both described to have prematurely aged as the books progress.
